This is a very unique tote bag that will age beautifully over time. It is made with a limited 23oz extra heavy Japanese selvedge denim woven in Okayama exclusively for UES. It features one of the most solid constructions we have ever seen in a bag.
The denim fabric has a lot of character with a good amount of slub and nep. UES used high-quality Japanese vegetable tanned thick leather matched to the bottom part of the bag and on the handles where the most friction occurs to enhance wear and resistance.
UES used a particular vintage sewing machine capable of sewing this heavyweight fabric. The thread used here is thick as the 00 no. thread to stand the thickness of the material. The production is completely done in-house, at the UES workshop so this masterpiece is full of details, and it is manufactured with the highest standards, craftsmanship and high-skilled techniques from cutting and adjusting the thickness of leather to the sewing. The bottom side is fixed by caulking, considering design ability and strength.
This treasure is full of fine quality details and solid brass hardware. It features an inner pocket with a UES leather patch, leather straps on the handle part and a UES double-ring installed inside.
UES is a small Japanese label founded by Chuji Matsumoto in 1994. UES comes from the English word "Waste", which means that Matsumoto-San wants you to make full use of each garment for as long as possible before discarding it. It is a small judgement of the concept of disposable wear that is so commonplace today in the world of fashion and from which Matsumoto-San disassociates himself completely.
