The NT-220x is a midweight raw black selvedge jean with a high rise and slightly roomier thighs, coupled with one of smallest leg openings available in the store.
The NT-220x utilizes 3sixteen flagship 14.5oz double black selvedge denim (220x) which is custom woven exclusively for the brand by Kuroki Mills, one of the most famous denim mills in Japan and will fade to grey in areas of heavy wear. Additional details include custom gunmetal YKK hardware and the new black suede leather patch by Tanner Goods, a leather goods company based in Portland, Oregon.
All 3sixteen jeans feature super heavyweight 8oz cotton twill pocketing that is almost twice the weight of traditional pocket bags. An often overlooked detail, pocket bags are extremely important, considering how much they're used and how much wear and tear they endure from carrying your daily essentials. We're sure our pocket bags will withstand more abuse than almost any other jean on the market.
3sixteen utilizes a continuous tucked chain stitch on their jean waistbands. Instead of terminating the chain stitch and finishing with a single needle, 3sixteen runs the chain stitch off the waistband and then tuck it in – this prevents the stitch from unravelling over time.
Everything about the jean, from the cut to the buttons, rivets, leather patch, and stitch colour, was selected to demonstrate a level of lasting quality and versatility. 3sixteen use an open-top button with a two-prong backing that prevents button rotation and pull-through. The open-top or "doughnut" style button allows you to easily see that the backing has been fastened securely.
Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen's philosophy is evident in pieces they've developed since 2008: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never "old."
