This Type 1s is the 3sixteen modernized take on a classic jacket silhouette. The brand aimed to simplify an iconic design while preserving the spirit of what makes it special. They got rid of the standard Type I back cinches and front pleats, and they swapped the front flap pocket out for a cleaner one. Lastly, because every good jacket needs hand pockets, they added hidden ones made of black corduroy so as to provide the functionality without ruining the clean lines on the front.
This Type 1s Jacket features a beautiful HBT Coyote fabric. This herringbone twill fabric is another call back to previous seasons. 3sixteen initially used it in AW15. It’s woven in Japan and is truly one of the best HBT’s we’ve ever seen. The fabric is quite heavy and crunchy from the start but it softens nicely with wear and wash, breaking in much lik raw denim. 3sixteen worked with the mill to develop a rinse on the fabric that softened the hand considerably.
The fabric itself develops a lot of character with wear as well: it slightly fades, wrinkles, and the herringbone pattern becomes more pronounced. We see this fabric as the ideal HBT, even better than what you would find on vintage pieces.
