This is a natural indigo version of the iconic ONI Kihannen. Oishi-San from ONI has achieved a fabric that mixes a fantastic vibrant natural indigo colour with the iconic Kihannen fat white vertical slub yarns. The result is a unique natural indigo fabric with a vast amount of slub and a beautiful hue of indigo shadows that only ONI can create. It's one of the slubbiest and most beautiful textiles we have ever seen (take a look at our close-up pictures of the fabric). It is highly irregular denim, both in terms of texture and colour. Thinner and thicker cotton threads run through each other, creating one of the most unique textures you will ever felt. The fabric is woven in Japan at a centenary family-owned mill.
The fat white vertical slub yarns look like heavy rain falling through a vibrant blue effect created by varying thickness of natural indigo warp yarns.
The jeans are made with all the superior-quality ONI details such as black copper hardware, high-quality green pocket bags, heavy-duty bar tacks and, a custom veg-tanned deerskin leather patch and the iconic ONI "kabuki selvedge". The Orange, green and black selvedge refer to the Japanese "Kabuki theatre" curtains.
The cut is a regular straight fit with a medium rise.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
