Samurai Jeans SOS22-S03 Natural Indigo Ichimatsu Shirt Koushi
This unique Samurai shirt design takes inspiration from classic open-collar aloha shirts of the 50s and is cut from a natural indigo Kasuri hand-dyed broken twill fabric. The hand dyeing Kasuri method creates patterns in the fabric through a dye process whereby threads are bound or resisted before the dyeing. First, the yarn is tied so the dye does not soak in. The tied part remains white after the dyeing, so it becomes the "Ichimatsu" (checkboard) pattern after it is woven.
The shirt features a triple-needle stitched construction and metal buttons. It can be worn with the collar open or buttoned all the way up with the loop. Whether buttoned up or left to hang open with a plain white tee underneath, this shirt transcends aesthetics.
Samurai jeans have become a legend in the Japanese denim scene. Created in Osaka by Toru Nogami in 1997, Samurai represents the perfection of Japanese tradition, with its iconography of Sengoku-era Samurais and the search for the best and nothing but the best through materials, artisan garment-making techniques and unique detailing.
