This is a classic crew neck Loopwheeled T-shirt made of high-quality Supima cotton. It is woven in the Japanese Kanekichi Wakayama workshop, one of only two workshops in the world still keeping in operation after more than 100 years the tubular textile production machines that allow seamless garments to be made. The only tension used in the knitting process is gravity, the end result being a knitted fabric with virtually no inbuilt stress or tension. A loopwheel machine rotates at just 24 revolutions per minute, with only 8-10 garments worth of fabric produced per day. A modern knitting machine in excess of 10 times that. The result is a very soft but strong fabric, and the best sweatshirt material made today.
The body has no side seams, and the cotton threads of the fabric are indigo rope-dyed, which creates perfect contrast and ageing. It has a rounded pocket on the chest whose seams are also invisible because it has been reverse-stitched.
Supima cotton is super long fibre cotton with a fibre length of 35mm or more and is thin and long in fibre, more uniform in length, more reliable in durability. It is said that the skin feel is comparable to cashmere.
The cut is a slim fit.
Stevenson Overall manufactures entirely in Japan on antique machinery. It produces incredibly durable and characterful garments featuring some unique construction details.
