Japan has always created some of the most incredible fabrics in the world and here are with no doubt the most fantastic Kimono fabrics we have ever seen. These shirts have been cut exclusively for Redcast, and there are no two shirts with the same fabric in the entire world, not even in a different size. Each piece is exclusive and unique.
These shirts are cut from vintage 100% silk Kimono fabrics. Japanese silk textiles were used to weave a variety of elaborate objects, from Nō (Noh) theatre costumes to festival decorations, but the most iconic and elegant silk objects are, without question, the Kimono. The diversity of the Kimono as a statement fashion piece and wearable work of art has made it one of the most desirable silk objects still prized to this day. Fabrics ranged greatly, with intricate patterns and dyeing techniques giving each garment a unique look and texture that allowed each wearer to stand out from one another. Fast forward to contemporary times and wearing Kimono has become a luxury reserved only for momentous occasions.
The Studio D´artisan Kimono collection is made up of 5 different shirts, and EACH SHIRT IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN ONE SIZE because they are made of remnants of those exclusive Kimono fabrics. All the fabrics are vintage, and they were woven in Japan during the olden times. Each shirt is unique in the entire world and features natural wooden buttons and one matched chest pocket. Because of the weaving techniques and the pattern details, it would be hard to replicate them today. The silk used to weave these fabrics is super-high premium quality from the mulberry silkworm.
Under the slogan of "Reconstruction of great old things", Studio D'Artisan is one of the iconic brands of Japanese denim. Founded by Shigeharu Tagaki and reproducing classics of French and American workwear since 1979, Studio D'Artisan takes pride in having been one of the Osaka 5.
