Studio D'Artisan Black Leather Mini Wallet
This is a Japanese premium cowhide leather wallet in black colour. It has been cut and defined by a master leather craftsman in Japan. The leather comes from Himeji, one of the world's few regions that continue to use only natural vegetable tanning.
The leather is pit tanned in Himeji for 2-3 months, stuffed full of oils and tannins. It has a semi-firm temper with a soft texture and a light nap (bounce). A delight for the veg tan purist. It will age with a load of character and patina.
Himeji is well known in Japan because of its leather. The origins go back some 2,000 years when immigrants from the Korean Peninsula brought into Harima (the present Hyogo Prefecture) their tanning skills. The production of leather and leather crafts enjoyed remarkable prosperity in the Edo era.
Under the slogan of "Reconstruction of great old things", Studio D'Artisan is one of the iconic brands of Japanese denim. Founded by Shigeharu Tagaki and reproducing classics of French and American workwear since 1979, Studio D'Artisan takes pride in having been one of the Osaka 5.
