Studio D'artisan continues to show approaches and connections to nature; this time, the brand has used the iconic mount Fuji as a creative inspiration to create these jeans. Mount Fuji and its environs have inspired generations of poets, painters, artists, and travellers. With the snow-capped view, Mount Fuji is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
Fuji radiates far-infrared rays, which have sterilising, sweat-eliminating and deodorising effects. D'Artisan has now produced a new rayon yarn kneaded with lava from Mt Fuji. This beautiful denim fabric has been woven on a vintage Toyoda G3 shuttle loom in Ibara, Okayama Prefecture, using 98% cotton yarns and 2% rayon yarns kneaded with lava.
To closely match the rocky face of Mount Fuji, the weft features a grey colour, and the pockets and waistband lining use a unique "Yamagata" pattern sashiko that reminds us of Fuji snow peaks. This denim is as powerful and dignified as Mt Fuji, a world-class symbol of Japan.
These jeans feature great details, such as an exclusive 3mm thick cowhide leather patch and branded blackened plated copper buttons. The Relaxed Tapered fit simple taper from the knee down with a close leg opening, still offering plenty of room in the thigh and top block with a mid-high rise.
Under the slogan of "Reconstruction of great old things", Studio D'artisan is one of the iconic brands of Japanese denim. Founded by Shigeharu Tagaki and reproducing classics of French and American workwear since 1979, Studio D'artisan takes pride in having been one of the Osaka 5.
