The standout feature of these jeans is their distinctive earthy coloration achieved through the "dorozome" technique, an ancestral mud dyeing process from the Amami Oshima region. The mud from this region, originating from ancient strata, is characterized by its round and refined particles, allowing it to dye cotton fibers without causing damage. Through a meticulous process of repeated soaking and kneading with a mixture of mud and Japanese hawthorn wood extract, the threads acquire a remarkable softness and flexibility. The result is denim that refuses to wrinkle, maintains its shape regardless of circumstances, and elegantly resists fire and dirt.

These jeans are much more than a garment; they are a connection to Japanese tradition and craftsmanship dating back over 1300 years. The dorozome process involves immersing the cotton threads in a mixture of Japanese hawthorn ("teitchi") extract and mud over 90 times, resulting in shades of dark brown that are impossible to achieve with synthetic dyes. Only a handful of master artisans from Amami Oshima master this laborious and transformative technique.
