Crafted from a custom 15.5oz jacquard-woven denim, these jeans feature indigo-dyed warp threads and Kakishibu-dyed weft threads — a pairing that creates a rich, red-tinged hue with depth and warmth.

Kakishibu, a natural dye extracted from fermented persimmons, has been used in Japan for over 900 years for its antibacterial, water-resistant, and naturally aging properties. Over time, exposure to air and sunlight deepens its color, giving each garment a unique, evolving patina. Woven into the weft and combined with traditional sashiko-style stitching on the warp, the fabric gains a three-dimensional, uneven texture that continues to develop character with every wear and wash.

Cut in a relaxed tapered silhouette, the D1897 balances comfort with structure. Each pair comes one-washed for softness and to prevent excessive shrinkage, and is finished with signature SDA details: a four-button fly with original hardware, engraved copper rivets, and a custom leather patch featuring the Kakishibu Sashiko motif.
