Are you looking for high contrast fades? If your answer is yes, please, continue reading.

All Tanuki denim heads have been waiting for anxious the return of the Red Cast fabric. First woven in 2017, this denim production has been on standby during these years. Now Tanuki has created a new version, hairier and with the same exceptional fading properties for which it became famous.

The Tanuki Red Cast denim is a heavy ounce nep-accentuated, medium density weave fabric witch an earthy and subtle reddish tint. The red cast results from a beige weft with a light red hue visible through the uneven warp combined with a chemically purer indigo dye that oxidizes more easily. The result is a unique fabric with immediate visual purple character and classic vintage fading potential that unfolds at a moderate speed. The cotton utilized for the weft is Australian cotton (soft, luxurious) while the cotton utilized for the warp is from Texas (rough, slubby, slightly longer than usual staple from Texas).

Traditionally, red cast denim is produced by using extremely pure indigo dye, without any additives such as sulfur. The result is a shade of indigo which is (blue + red) = purple. Red cast fabrics are well known in the Japanese denim scene, and without a doubt, it's one of our favourite styles of denim. It gives the name to our store!

The jeans are made with all the superior-quality Tanuki details such as copper hardware, Tanuki logo embroidered back pocket detail, and the iconic Tanuki custom vegetable-tanned deerskin leather patch. The stitching for this one is quite remarkable: A variety of contrasting red threads which really stand out.

The cut is a modern high-tapered fit. The taper is pretty aggressive so that it gives a slim-fitting silhouette while allowing for a lot of space at the thighs with a high rise.

Near the back pocket, there is the embroidered Tanuki 二 (Ni) logo, two parallel lines in Japanese Kanji representing the number 2. The lower line represents the past, tradition, the standard, peace. The upper line represents the future, change, strength. The red and blue colours of their logo refer to Japan's flag, honouring their roots as denim artisans.

The Tanuki brand was established in 2016 in Okayama Prefecture. It comprises a small group of great artisans who are passionate about denim and boast more than 30 years' experience in other brands in the industry. If there is something that characterizes Tanuki garments in addition to its modern cuts, it is the quality and variety of its fabrics, with prime importance given to the best cottons, natural indigo and the application of different types of tension on the shuttle looms when producing the fabrics.
