We are delighted to present a very limited collaboration both as a jacket and as utility pants, between Tanuki and one of the finest denim brands from Kojima, Graph Zero. Both brands have been working on a special sashiko project for quite some time. This sashiko fabric is comfortable and incredible soft right from the get-go thanks to 100% Supima cotton. The fabric is rope dyed with natural indigo and then overdyed with black Sumi ink, made of burnt pinewood and used for Japanese calligraphy. The depth of this fabric is outstanding and will show some impressive fading over time.
This is a very limited edition that uses natural dyes exclusively and requires a lot of manual labour. There won't be any additional stock this time.
This jacket is made with all the superior-quality Tanuki details such as black copper hardware, the Tanuki logo embroidered, a black deer leather collaboration patch and a blue Graph Zero tab. The cut is a new and very contemporary type 3 with raglan sleeves and sidewarmer pockets with a bit of oversized style allowing for more mobility and comfort.
The Tanuki brand was established in 2016 in Okayama Prefecture. It comprises a small group of great artisans who are passionate about denim and boast more than 30 years' experience in other brands in the industry. If there is something that characterizes Tanuki garments in addition to its modern cuts, it is the quality and variety of its fabrics, with prime importance given to the best cottons, natural indigo and the application of different types of tension on the shuttle looms when producing the fabrics.
