The "SG6109 super slubby" fabric is an unsanforized 16.5oz heavyweight slubby indigo grey weft dyed fabric that adds a deep blue and some indigo-grey hue. It is made with 100% Zimbabwe cotton to create the rigid and slubby hand feel. We have selected a non-wash version for this model because we love the hand feel, slub and character of this fabric in its totally pure version. The Strike Gold denim fabrics are unique in the world for their texture, composition, incredible irregularity, stiffness, roughness and character, delighting denim devotees around the planet.
One of the great characteristics of this model is that it has been woven with the "left-hand twill" technique on old shuttle looms. The left-hand twill is a style of weaving where the lines of grain run from the top left-hand corner of the fabric towards the bottom right-hand corner. Denim jeans that use the left-hand twill technique have a generally soft and fluffy feeling, especially after washing them.
This model is full of details such as its hidden rivets in the back pockets, a deer leather patch and custom iron male rivets and copper female rivets. The male rivets will begin to oxidize over time, but the female ones will darken, providing an ageing aspect.
The Strike Gold jeans are notably stiff, the result of always searching for the best raw materials, the most virgin materials possible. Consequently, The Strike Gold jeans make for difficult wearing the first times, but bit by bit they will yield after the first few uses and result in a comfortable garment that moulds to the body like a second skin. Thanks to the spectacular fade the denim acquires over the years, The Strike Gold jeans always achieve a unique character.
The cut is a slim tapered fit. The leg narrows from the thigh to the bottom, without being too closed.
As it is non-wash version, we highly recommend you soak the jeans in hot water before the first wear. Expect around 2,5cm (1in) of shrinkage in the waist and 6,4cm (2.5in) in the inseam when soaking so please, keep it in mind when looking for your size in the product size chart.
