However, this time, the classic denim masterpiece is elevated to new heights with a selvedge line that pays tribute to the captivating world of Kabuki theater.
The selvedge line serves as a visual ode to Kabuki, mirroring the rich hues of its curtains. The greenish-indigo and beige colors intertwine, creating a striking connection between the denim and the vibrant stage. It's a fusion of tradition and modernity, encapsulating the spirit of Oni Denim's commitment to craftsmanship.
Built on the foundation of the 288 straight cut, a modern straight-cut silhouette that sits perfectly between the 622 and the 266, these jeans boast the same revered features as the standard Secret Denim. Crafted by skilled hands in Okayama, the denim is a testament to their artistry. Thick yarns of three cotton varieties are meticulously woven at ultra-low tension on a vintage shuttle loom, resulting in an unsanforized 20oz fabric with a pronounced slub, roughness, and hairy texture.
True to Oni Denim's commitment to excellence, these jeans incorporate premium details such as copper buttons, high-quality pocket bags, heavy-duty bar tacks, and a custom veg-tanned cowhide leather patch.
Please keep in mind that, due to the low tension, the 'Secret Denim' fabric will stretch significantly (up to 1.5" or even 2"). If your jeans feel tight initially, don't worry, as after just a few wears, you will achieve the perfect fit. We recommend selecting your usual size for comfort or going one size down to account for the stretching if your thighs allow it. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. It is unsanforized but one washed, so there will be no shrinkage.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
