Fit Notes: SDA Jeans typically run slightly small, but this is not the case with the Hinode-Awa jeans. We find it to be true to size, so we recommend selecting your usual size. However, as always, we advise checking the size chart first to ensure the perfect fit. The fabric is unsanforized but has been pre-washed, so no shrinkage is expected.

We're excited to introduce the most extraordinary and rarest jeans we've ever had at Redcast. Produced in limited quantities, these jeans are hand-dyed using indigo and akane (red madder) by skilled craftsmen. The thicker yarn used for hand-dyeing gives the denim a unique, uneven finish, setting it apart from typical 15oz denim.

The "Hinode-Awa Shoai" series is inspired by Japan's rich tradition of colors, evoking warmth, familiarity, and deep comfort. To celebrate their 45th anniversary, Studio D'Artisan created denim that encapsulates the essence of "Japanese colors" using indigo and madder red. The natural indigo dye is applied using the traditional "Awa-Sei Aizome" method, involving approximately 30 cycles of washing to achieve a deep, harmonious hue. This process embodies the concept of indigo as a living color, evolving with time and wear.

The weft is dyed with natural plant-based akane (茜)"red madder", a dye with a history in Japan dating back centuries, including its use in the national flag during the Meiji era. The deep indigo from the "Awa-Shoai Aizome" method beautifully complements the red madder, creating a fabric reminiscent of traditional noble attire.

These straight-leg jeans feature a mid-rise and include all the high-quality Studio D'Artisan details, such as custom copper buttons, premium pocket bags, and a thick cowhide leather patch. Studio D'Artisan stitched the leather patch after the tempi treatment, a costly step requiring the jeans to return to the sewing workshop after the initial wash, to achieve the best possible look.

Fit Notes: As many other SDA Jeans, the Tokushima D1866 runs slightly small. In general, we recommend choosing one size larger than your usual. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. It is unsanforized but one washed, so there will be no shrinkage.
