Tanuki proudly presents their inaugural M65 pants, crafted in a green vat-dyed herringbone fabric. Originally designed during the Vietnam War, the M-65 pants were issued alongside the iconic jacket of the same name. Over the decades, these pants have become a cornerstone of menswear, influencing generations with their timeless high-rise, straight-leg fit and versatile styling options. This reinterpretation by Tanuki retains the original wide fit while adding a more urban and contemporary touch.

The proprietary fabric used in these pants is exceptionally substantial, offering a great hand and texture. The dyes are inspired by vintage ripstop pants from one of the Tanuki team member's extensive collections, and achieving the perfect shade took considerable effort. This herringbone fabric ages beautifully, exuding strong vintage vibes as it wears in.

The drawstrings, made from robust oxford cloth and vat-dyed to match the pants, allow for various fit customizations at the waist and hem. While the silhouette has been subtly modernized for a contemporary feel, the oversized side pockets with flaps are a nod to Tanuki’s type 3 denim jacket chest pockets.

These versatile pants can be styled to achieve either a heritage look or a contemporary aesthetic. Pair them with boots or sneakers, a hoodie, or, as recommended, with a denim jacket for a complete ensemble.

Notable details include six pockets (two front, two back, and two cargo) all secured with DOT snaps. The gusseted knees enhance movement and comfort, while the drawstrings at the leg openings provide additional fit adjustments.

These pants fit true to size and feature an adjustable waistband. It is a very limited release. We suggest pairing these pants with a denim jacket or an oversized tee for a cohesive look.

The Tanuki brand was established in 2016 in Okayama Prefecture. It comprises a small group of great artisans who are passionate about denim and boast more than 30 years’ experience in other brands in the industry. If there is something that characterizes Tanuki garments in addition to its modern cuts, it is the quality and variety of its fabrics, with prime importance given to the best cottons, natural indigo and the application of different types of tension on the shuttle looms when producing the fabrics.
