These jeans are crafted from Tanuki’s signature Indigo x Indigo fabric, a 15oz denim with both warp and weft dyed in deep indigo shades. Woven using a low-tension technique, they are lighter and more breathable than standard 15oz denim, while still maintaining a beautiful slubby texture and a comfortable hand feel. Despite its irregular appearance, the fabric offers surprisingly smooth comfort for the wearer.
The unique slub and nep of this fabric create high-contrast fades and snowy highlights that gradually emerge with wear, resulting in fast and distinctive fading. Made from 100% Texas cotton with a medium staple fiber length, these jeans aim to recreate a vintage hand feel. The durable yet comfortable Texas cotton, along with the slubby yarn, adds to the fabric's character and irregularities.
The Tanuki double indigo fabric is known for their unparalleled depth of indigo, particularly on its uneven, low-tension surface. The slubby knots on the fabric's surface, which reveal their white core with wear, contribute to its unique texture and excellent fading potential. This fabric has been praised as one of the fastest fading fabrics available, making it a favorite among denim enthusiasts.
The jeans feature a regular straight fit with a high rise making them super comfortable. The electric blue selvedge line running along the edge of the denim is just the beginning of the exceptional features of this garment. Custom copper buttons and copper rivets give a classic touch of luxury, while the custom vegetable-tanned deerskin leather patch adds a unique touch of style. The Japanese extra-durable herringbone cotton-lined fabric in front and back pockets ensures durability and longevity and the electric blue inner seam thread adds a subtle pop of color.
These jeans have a standard sizing. We recommend choosing your usual size. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. It is unsanforized but one washed, so there will be no shrinkage. The waist will experience the typical stretching seen in Tanuki denim due to the low tension weave. Expect approximately 1 inches of stretching.
The Tanuki brand was established in 2016 in Okayama Prefecture. It comprises a small group of great artisans who are passionate about denim and boast more than 30 years’ experience in other brands in the industry. If there is something that characterizes Tanuki garments in addition to its modern cuts, it is the quality and variety of its fabrics, with prime importance given to the best cottons, natural indigo and the application of different types of tension on the shuttle looms when producing the fabrics.
