Made from a 17oz unsanforized indigo rope-dyed selvedge denim, the fabric showcases an intense landscape of slubs, nep, and irregular vertical and horizontal texture. Woven from 100% Zimbabwe cotton, the denim utilizes a super short-staple weft, deliberately chosen for its ability to create a rugged, uneven hand-feel that is completely different from the smoothness of long-staple cotton. This is denim at its most tactile, textured, and expressive.

The warp yarns are dyed to the deepest indigo through a saturated rope-dyeing process, while the weft uses a highly irregular slub yarn, pushed to the limits of what vintage shuttle looms can manage. The threads are spun extremely slowly, creating thick, loosely twisted yarns that generate Strike Gold’s signature ultra-slubby character. As a result, the 7109 produces aggressive, contrasting fades, often forming a bold, grid-like pattern that reveals new layers of color and character over time—an aging experience that has become legendary among denim enthusiasts.

Beyond the fabric, The Strike Gold’s dedication to craftsmanship appears in every subtle detail. The jeans feature a combination of iron male rivets and copper female rivets, intentionally left untreated so each metal ages differently—iron developing rusted oxidation, copper darkening into deep browns. The deer leather patch, made from a type of deerskin historically used in Japan since the Nara period, starts soft yet resilient and evolves with a glossy, polished surface over years of wear. The belt loops are raised using a proprietary jig, allowing the center ridge to fade beautifully as friction builds with time.
