The ONI Denim L700 “Ladies” is a thoughtfully redesigned women’s fit, developed during our 2025 trip to Japan, where Isabel (co-owner of Redcast) collaborated directly with Oishi-San, founder of ONI Denim, to create a silhouette better suited to the female body.

This updated version—L700 2.0—builds on the previous 702L, introducing a higher rise and a straight leg that offers a clean, balanced shape without going overly wide. The result is a jean that sits comfortably at the waist while falling naturally through the leg, creating a timeless and versatile silhouette.

Finding high-quality denim that truly fits the female form can be challenging, as many options are based on men’s patterns. The L700 addresses this by offering a cut designed specifically with women’s proportions in mind, particularly through the hips and waist—making it a standout option for those seeking the perfect everyday jean.

Crafted from a new 14oz low-tension selvedge denim, the fabric is woven on vintage shuttle looms in Okayama, resulting in a soft, comfortable feel despite being 100% cotton. The indigo rope-dyed warp ensures beautiful fading over time, while the slightly stretchy hand feel comes from the unique low-tension construction.

The denim has also undergone an anti-skewing treatment, preventing leg twist and ensuring a clean, symmetrical appearance even after extended wear. The construction has been updated with a button fly, adding durability and a more traditional finish.

Finished with ONI’s signature details—including copper hardware, hidden rivets, and a custom vegetable-tanned deerskin patch—this model combines authentic craftsmanship with a modern, purpose-built women’s fit.

Fit Notes: This model fits true to size. Compared to most global American brands, sizing is similar or slightly smaller, so you may take the same size or one size up. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart to find your perfect size. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. That said, we don’t recommend sizing down, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended fit of the garment.
