The Tanuki Yurai jeans blend traditional Japanese craftsmanship with bold dyeing innovation, using a 15.5oz Indigo x Indigo selvedge denim with a cobalt blue weft dyed in natural indigo—a nod to Tanuki’s signature blue. Woven with a low-tension technique from 100% Texas cotton, the fabric is richly slubby, uneven, and slightly fuzzy, creating a breathable yet sturdy structure with deep color variation and intense fade potential.
The texture reveals subtle glimpses of cobalt beneath the surface, while banana and beige stitching enhances the tonal contrast. Known as one of the fastest-fading denims on the market, Yurai develops striking electric-blue highlights and a highly personal patina. The regular straight fit features a high rise, custom copper hardware, electric blue selvedge ID, deerskin leather patch, and Japanese herringbone pocket bags—making it a refined yet rugged piece designed to evolve beautifully with wear.
Fit Notes: These jeans follow standard sizing, so we recommend choosing your usual size. As always, we suggest checking the size chart to ensure the best fit. While the denim is unsanforized, it has been one-washed, meaning you won’t experience any further shrinkage. The waist will stretch with wear—typical of Tanuki’s low-tension weave—so you can expect around 1 inch of stretch over time.
