If you're the kind of guy who values cost-per-wear, look no further than this UES sweatshirt. This durable heavyweight wonder is guaranteed to last a lifetime with a flattering fit, a sturdy feel and exceptional warmth. It is made from Aspero cotton – a wild-growing cotton from the foothills of the Andes in Peru. Aspero grows on trees; it's harvested by hand and can't be mass-produced, rendering a product which fibre is organic, natural, dry and incredibly thick.

The fabric is knitted in the Japanese Kanekichi Wakayama workshop, one of only two workshops in the world still keeping in operation after more than 100 years the tubular textile production machines that allow seamless garments to be made. The only tension used in the knitting process is gravity, the end result being a knitted fabric with virtually no inbuilt stress or tension. A loopwheel machine rotates at just 24 revolutions per minute, with only 8-10 garments worth of fabric produced per day. A modern knitting machine in excess of 10 times that. The result is a heavyweight, soft but strong fabric, and the best sweatshirt material made today.

It features a round ribbed neck, and it's cut sideways so that it may stretch a bit. This built-to-last sweatshirt is soft on the inside and resistant on the outside. It has been woven a bit tighter than traditional loopwheeled sweatshirt fabrics to make them a bit more windproof.

*Please note that the Pucara sweatshirt sizes small; we recommend sizing up from your usual size, but to make sure that you choose the right size, we always recommend that you take a tape measure to size a favourite garment from your wardrobe and compare its measurements to the sizing chart of the garment you are about to acquire (How we measure our clothes).

UES is a small Japanese label founded by Chuji Matsumoto in 1994. UES comes from the English word "Waste", which means that Matsumoto-San wants you to make full use of each garment for as long as possible before discarding it. It is a small judgement of the concept of disposable wear that is so commonplace today in the world of fashion and from which Matsumoto-San disassociates himself completely.
