The Viberg Navvy Boot in Natural Cypress is a refined take on a classic derby-style ankle boot, seamlessly blending naval heritage, modern versatility, and Viberg’s uncompromising build quality. Designed as a cleaner alternative to the Service Boot, the Navvy™ offers a more streamlined silhouette while preserving the rugged DNA that defines the brand.

This model is built on Viberg’s proprietary 1040 “New 1940” last, inspired by the iconic US Navy military last. The result is a round toe shape with a more anatomical fit throughout, delivering natural foot alignment, excellent balance, and long-term comfort. The 1040 last fits equivalently to the 2030, making sizing familiar and straightforward for those already accustomed to Viberg’s core fits.

The upper is crafted from Horween Natural Cypress leather (USA), a premium chrome-veg tanned leather prized for its durability, structure, and exceptional aging properties. Unlike oil-heavy leathers, Cypress develops a drier, more organic patina, with increasing depth, tonal variation, and subtle grain expression as it breaks in. The Natural Cypress finish starts light and warm, gradually darkening and gaining contrast with wear, ensuring that every pair ages uniquely.

Construction is executed using Channeled Insole Goodyear Welt Construction, a highly durable method that secures the welt by stitching it directly into a recessed channel carved into the insole. This creates a stronger, cleaner, and more water-resistant bond while allowing the boots to be fully resoled multiple times, extending their lifespan for decades of wear.

Underfoot, the Navvy Boot is finished with a rugged Ridgeway rubber outsole, featuring thick, protruding lugs and deep ridge channels that provide excellent traction, grip, and stability across wet pavement, uneven ground, and everyday urban terrain. This sole strikes an ideal balance between outdoor performance and daily versatility.

Each pair passes through over 200 individual handcrafted steps and strict quality inspections at Viberg’s workshop in Victoria, Canada. The result is a boot that feels equally at home with raw denim, heavy chinos, or tailored workwear—built as a long-term essential designed to age with character and purpose.

Fit Notes: All Viberg Service Boots are available in a single E width, and we recommend sizing down one full size from your standard US sneaker size or Brannock measurement. If you have wide feet, consider going down half a size. Viberg sizes fit more closely to uk rather than US sizing.
