The Y’2 Leather Colomer Mouton Type B-6 Jacket is a faithful yet elevated reproduction of the iconic 1930s–40s USAAF B-6 flight jacket, reinterpreted through Japanese craftsmanship and finished in an all-black execution that feels unmistakably bold and rock-and-roll. Designed originally in 1939 for fighter pilots operating in tight cockpit spaces, the B-6 offered greater mobility and lighter weight compared to the heavier B-3—qualities that make it just as relevant today as a wearable, everyday shearling jacket.

This full black version stands out for its stealthy, monochrome character: black horsehide on the exterior, black mouton lining on the interior, and blacked-out hardware throughout. The result is a jacket that balances historical accuracy with a sharp, modern attitude, combining military heritage with unmistakable presence.

The leather:

The jacket is constructed from 100% Colomer mouton sheepskin, sourced from Colomer Leather, one of the most prestigious shearling tanneries in the world. Known for supplying luxury fashion houses, Colomer mouton is prized for its dense yet lightweight structure, exceptional softness, and outstanding thermal insulation.

The interior features genuine mouton shearling, dyed fully black, providing warmth without excessive bulk. The exterior is reinforced with horsehide panels in high-stress areas, enhancing durability while adding subtle contrast in texture. This combination delivers the ideal balance of warmth, flexibility, and long-term resilience, allowing the jacket to age gracefully while maintaining its structure.

Construction:

Y’2 Leather reproduces the B-6 with meticulous attention to original specifications while refining the finish to modern standards. The jacket features an original-style front TALON zipper, along with adjustable TALON side zippers at the waist for sweep and comfort. A buckle closure strap at the collar allows for wind protection, while snap-adjustable cuffs ensure a secure fit.

Key stress points—such as the shoulders, seams, and high-wear zones—are reinforced with horsehide overlays, staying true to the functional intent of the original flight jacket. Compared to the B-3, the B-6 is lighter and more flexible, featuring a bi-swing back and epaulets that enhance mobility without sacrificing structure.
