With only factory in Japan, capable of producing vulcanized soles – a style of robust sole that was once used for navy sailors during times of war – these shoes are exceptionally rare. This type of heavy-duty sole offers enhanced traction on slippery ship platforms, enabling versatile movement in various weather conditions. The combination of a strong sole-upper bond, difficult-to-peel sole, and enduring form is achieved through the vulcanization process.
