Made from heavyweight 10.5oz long-staple cotton, this tee is woven at the legendary Kanekichi factory in Wakayama — one of only two remaining workshops in the world still operating traditional Tsuri-Ami (Loopwheel) machines.

Each garment is knit slowly and gently at just 24 RPM, using only the force of gravity. This painstaking process, unchanged for over a century, produces a tubular, seamless fabric with unmatched softness, resilience, and natural drape — free from the tension and stress typical of modern high-speed manufacturing. The triple-stitched collar, reinforced with a specialized three-needle technique, ensures long-lasting structure.

The result? A supremely comfortable t-shirt that feels substantial yet breathable, built to age beautifully over time. Even the packaging has been thoughtfully redesigned, reflecting the care, history, and authenticity behind every piece.

To achieve the perfect fit while respecting the limitations of vintage tsuri-ami machines, Studio D’artisan utilizes the full circumference of the 1920s loopwheel machines for sizes S to L, creating truly seamless garments, while sizes XL and XXL require side seams due to the smaller diameter of the machines. Since the fabric must be cut to accommodate larger sizes, we use Union Special flat side seam construction to ensure both comfort and durability—an approach inspired by vintage sweatshirts that results in a smooth, polished finish.

Fit Notes: Studio D’Artisan tees run smaller than standard American sizing. If you typically wear a size M in U.S. t-shirts, we recommend choosing a size L in this model. However, fit can vary depending on individual body types, so we always suggest referring to our size chart to ensure the best fit.
