Introducing the Sugar Cane Super "Denim" Collectibles - a meticulous homage to the iconic denim manufactured during WWII.
Crafted under the meticulous eye of denim specialist Yuichi Fukutomi and his team, the Super "Denim" Collectibles capsule stands as a testament to the pursuit of denim perfection. Collaborating with vintage denim aficionado Shigeteru Wakitani, this collection breathes life into the revered "war models" of yesteryears, meticulously replicating their essence and character.
At the heart of this collection lies an unparalleled dedication to authenticity. Drawing inspiration from rare deadstock and coveted golden-sized vintage pieces, each garment embodies the soul of its predecessor. From the rugged, heavily textured denim fabric to the utilitarian donut buttons and iron rivets, every detail pays homage to the harsh realities of wartime production in 1943.
The design ethos of the era is faithfully reproduced, with subtle simplifications reflecting the scarcity of skilled labor and resources. It features heavily textured denim fabric, utilitarian donut buttons, and iron rivets, reflecting the stringent material control imposed on the American industry. Omitting rivets on the coin pocket and leaving the concealed rivets uncoated, retaining their natural iron color, the garment embodies cotton conservation by using flannel pocket lining. Additionally, due to a shortage of skilled workers, the sewing is notably rough, with uneven stitching widths, misaligned seams at the back yoke, and unfinished seam allowances at the left side, presenting a finish that would typically be rejected during regular inspections. Fukutomi-san's obsession with achieving an absolutely perfect replica has led him to reproduce even those common sewing errors that occurred in the jackets produced in 1943.
Each piece in the collection is a testament to the artistry of the past, meticulously recreated for the modern denim connoisseur. Whether it's the aged hues of indigo or the weathered patina of vintage hardware, every element tells a story of resilience and craftsmanship.
*To remain as faithful as possible to the original 1943 version, we have chosen the non-wash version, so it's important to note that these jeans will shrink. We highly recommend soaking the jeans in hot water before the first wear. Expect around 4cm (1.5in) of shrinkage in the waist and 7.6cm (3in) in the inseam when soaking in warm water, so please refer to the product size chart accordingly.
