From factory floors to farm fields, from garages to delivery routes, the work pant has long been a symbol of durability and honest labor. Among the most iconic of the 20th century was the chino, and one of the most relied-upon fabrics of the era was the versatile salt & pepper cloth.
The Daybreak Work Pants pay tribute to this heritage, crafted from a 10oz Japanese-milled selvedge salt & pepper fabric. Lightweight yet tough, soft to the touch yet incredibly resistant to stains, grease, and grime, this fabric earned its place as a favorite among mechanics and tradesmen of the past.
Thoughtful construction details include double-welted back pockets, a double-welted watch pocket, and a button fly finished with authentic Japanese urea buttons. A period-correct single back-pocket button nods to vintage workwear design. The outseam showcases a clean white selvedge ID, while the inside inseams are flat-felled and double-chain stitched for lasting strength and neat finishing. Subtle olive contrast thread highlights the interior chainstitching, a small but distinctive touch. Inside, you’ll find a Japanese-milled 5oz wabash discharge-dyed waistband and pocket bags, along with custom corozo (tagua nut) suspender buttons made in Panama. Additional refinements include taped fly seams, a garment workers’ label, and seven raised belt loops for secure wear.
Proudly made in Japan in collaboration with John Lofgren & Co., these trousers uphold the highest standards of quality and ethical manufacturing.
Fit Notes: The Rite Stuff pants fit true to size. If you normally wear a size M in American trousers, a size M in this model should work well for you. However, for the most accurate fit, we always recommend checking our size chart before purchasing.
