Unlike denim, chambray is lighter, airier, and has a clearer surface structure with a dry, direct hand feel. The loose tension of the weave — characteristic of period chambray — means the fabric shrinks and softens with repeated washing, developing the distinctive faded patina that defines vintage examples over time.

Construction reflects the classic details of the 1950s original. The shirt features side gussets at the hem, a traditional collar with a collar stand, a full front placket, and two chest pockets — details that define the "old-fashioned" specification of the early- and mid-century military issue.
