The Buzz Rickson's OG-107 Type I Class Shorts are a meticulous reproduction of the US Army fatigue trousers adopted in the mid-1950s. Originally designed as part of the OG-107 utility uniform — where "OG" stands for "olive green" and "107" is the US Army's official color code — the trousers were paired with matching shirts to form a versatile setup suitable for both combat and general work duty.
Two variants existed — an early Type I and a later Type II — with the Type I distinguished by adjustable waist tabs. Although the pants are often referred to as "baker pants" today, they are in fact uncompromising military garments built to strict mil-spec standards. Issued to American soldiers throughout the Vietnam era, the OG-107 fatigues quickly transcended their military origins — becoming a fixture of 1970s counter-culture worn by everyone from San Francisco hippies to London punks, and appearing in iconic films such as "Platoon".
The shorts are cut from a heavy 100% cotton sateen in olive green, modeled on the exact material used by the US military. Over time, the sateen weave will develop a beautiful natural patina, gaining depth and character with every wear and wash.
Construction reflects Buzz Rickson's obsession with period-correct authenticity. The shorts feature two side-entry front pockets in the iconic OG-107 style, two rear flap pockets, a button fly, and adjustable waist tabs for a personalized comfort fit. Mil-spec urea buttons and traditional sewing techniques on vintage machines complete a piece built to last for decades — because they just don't make them like they used to.
Fit Notes: These shorts fit true to size. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend taking your usual size for a comfortable fit. The adjustable waist tabs allow you to fine-tune the fit slightly if you fall between two sizes. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting shorts to find the perfect fit.
