Introducing Freenote Cloth’s newest signature denim in broken twill: 12 Ounce Vintage Blue. Around 9 years ago, Freenote stumbled upon a vintage roll of selvedge with a unique pale blue color. Ever since, recreating “Old Blue” – the nickname given to the original roll of fabric – has been a passion project for the brand. At first, they tried to find the original manufacturer, so they approached the now defunct Cone Mills White Oak. Although they couldn’t find any records of making this particular denim, they did offer some insight into its origin. Like many products in wartime, dye is often a scarce commodity. They’ve never been able to pinpoint when the denim fabric was manufactured, but it is likely that the distinct pale blue color was an invention of necessity in the midst of wartime rationing. Matching this shade of blue was no easy task, but after 8 years of trial and error, Freenote finally has a faithful reproduction of “Old Blue.”
Freenote's innovative approach is evident in the modified front chest patch pockets, featuring a stylish curved shape for the flap and pocket. They've also replaced typical welt pockets with integrated front panel pockets for both functionality and a sleek aesthetic. Inside, you'll find secure storage pockets for your wallet.
Crafted from Japanese sanforized denim, it showcases classic zigzag stitch detailing and precise 1/8" double needle accents, reflecting meticulous craftsmanship. Custom metal trims and the vegetable-tanned leather patch add a touch of individuality. Made entirely from 100% cotton, it offers both comfort and durability, with every stitch meticulously sewn in the USA to guarantee exceptional quality.
The cut features a slight slim fit and stays true to standard sizing. If you usually wear a size M in Freenote or other American brands, you'll find a suitable fit with this jacket in size M. However, as always, we recommend consulting our size chart for the perfect fit.
