The Graph Zero Kakishibu x Aizome 13oz Nep Selvedge Denim is one of the most technically and uniquely layered fabrics ever produced by the mill — a limited edition cloth that brings together two ancient Japanese dyeing traditions in a single garment. The warp is dyed with kakishibu — a persimmon tannin technique rooted in Japanese dye tradition going back over a thousand years — while the weft uses aizome natural indigo, another ancient method requiring the precision of skilled artisans to achieve the depth and visual complexity these two techniques produce together.

Unlike indigo, which fades, kakishibu naturally darkens over time through exposure to sunlight — producing an evolving patina personal to the wearer. When paired with aizome's evolving blue depth in the weft, the fabric develops layered tonal complexity unmatched by conventional denim.

The base cloth is a 13oz nep selvedge woven on a vintage power loom with irregular indigo nep yarns that create an ultra-slubby, almost hand-woven surface texture that catches the light in a way modern denim simply cannot. The factory rinse removes shrinkage and softens the hand — without undercutting the raw character of the cloth.

The silhouette is Graph Zero's regular straight fit with a high rise — timeless, balanced, and easy to wear with boots or sneakers. Construction details treat every element as an opportunity: custom engraved buttons and hardware, hidden back pocket rivets, hidden coin pocket selvedge, printed herringbone pocket bags, a vegetable-tanned leather patch, an orange selvedge ID, and the Graph Zero factory badge at the rear.

Fit Notes: This model fits between true to size and slightly small. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend taking your usual size — or sizing up one for a more comfortable, relaxed fit. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. Due to the low-tension weave typical of Graph Zero fabrics, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch with regular wear.
