Woven in Japan on vintage power looms, this 13oz nep selvedge denim uses uneven, bumpy yarns in both the warp and weft, creating a richly textured surface with pronounced vertical slub and subtle neppy flecks throughout. The result is a fabric that looks and feels almost handwoven — rugged, organic, and full of character.

What truly sets this denim apart is the dyeing method. Instead of standard industrial rope dyeing, each warp yarn is hand-dyed in skeins using natural indigo (“Aizome”), producing complex, varied shades of blue that shift across the surface. This traditional process creates a depth of tone and irregularity impossible to replicate mechanically. Over time, the jeans develop unique, high-contrast fading and nuanced color evolution, distinct from typical selvedge denim.

Construction takes inspiration from authentic 1940s wartime five-pocket jeans, combining heritage design with Graph Zero’s meticulous Japanese craftsmanship. Every pair showcases Graph Zero’s signature attention to detail, including hidden rivets, chain-stitched hems, cotton sewing threads that age beautifully, an orange selvedge ID, a selvedge coin pocket, a red tab on the back pocket, custom Japanese pocket lining, red tab, and a debossed cowhide leather patch. Custom iron buttons, bar-tack reinforcements, and carefully finished seams further reinforce the garment’s durability and long-term character.

The fit is a classic regular straight with a comfortable mid-to-high rise, offering timeless proportions and everyday versatility. Relaxed without excess volume, it pairs just as naturally with boots and workwear as it does with modern casual styling.

Fit Notes: Graph Zero jeans generally fit true to size. However, this model runs slightly small, so we recommend sizing up one size. As always, we suggest consulting the size chart to ensure the best fit. Although the denim is unsanforized, it has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. Due to the low-tension weave typical of Graph Zero fabrics, the waist will stretch with wear—expect approximately 1 inch of stretch over time.
