The Kobashi Studio "Yatsu-Giku Sukashi" Charm Medium is a refined accessory that blends traditional Japanese symbolism with artisanal metal craftsmanship. Designed to pair perfectly with the Kobashi Studio Classic Silver Chain Necklace 3.1mm or 2.3mm, it offers a distinctive and versatile addition to any necklace setup.
The charm features the Yatsu-giku — a rare eight-petal chrysanthemum crest with squared petal tips — crafted using the traditional Japanese "Sukashi" openwork technique. Yatsu-giku literally means "eight-petal chrysanthemum" in Japanese — and the chrysanthemum has long symbolized longevity, renewal, and refinement in Japanese culture, making it one of the country's most meaningful decorative motifs.
Measuring approximately 16mm in diameter, the charm is crafted from solid brass, paired with a 925 sterling silver loop for durability and compatibility with silver chains. The combination of warm brass and refined silver creates a quiet, layered character that pairs beautifully with any of Kobashi Studio's necklaces.
The master mold was designed by Kobashi Studio founder Junichi Kobashi, with a vintage-inspired finish that intentionally preserves subtle file marks and handmade distortions — details that highlight the authenticity of handcrafted production.
Each piece is cast by a family-operated metal workshop in Tokyo, ensuring exceptional quality and traditional metalworking expertise. Over time, the brass surface will develop a natural patina, gradually deepening in tone and giving each charm a unique character.
The backside is engraved with "Kobashi" in Japanese characters, reinforcing its connection to its origins. Each piece is presented in a luxurious Japanese pig suede pouch.
