Crafted from lustrous oiled finish Japanese saddle leather by the renowned Tochigi tannery, established in 1937 and situated in the Kantō region of Honshu, Japan. The leather is exclusively 100% vegetable-tanned, boasting a delightful aroma.
Tochigi Leather is celebrated as "a rarity in the world" due to its exclusive use of natural vegetable tanning. The factory houses 160 vats filled with top-quality tanning agents sourced from Brazilian mimosa. The leather undergoes a gradual immersion process, moving from the lowest tanning concentration to the highest, allowing for a slow and natural permeation over time.
Every stage of Kobashi wallet production in Chiba is meticulously carried out by a single craftsman, including the time-consuming hand-polished finish. The solid brass eyelet is crafted by a family-operated eyelet company that has been operating since 1947 in Osaka.
