The Mooncastle Angola Kid Mohair Cardigan Pullover is a rare and luxurious knit crafted with the same obsessive attention to detail that defines all Mooncastle garments. Produced in Misaki, Osaka Prefecture, at the brand's own factory founded by Eiichi Tsukishiro over 30 years ago, this cardigan reflects decades of Japanese knitwear expertise and a deep commitment to hands-on craftsmanship. From knit development and pressing to linking and washing, every step is carried out with the intention of creating a garment that becomes truly personal to the wearer.
The piece is made using Angola kid mohair — one of the rarest and most prized natural fibers in the world. Mohair accounts for less than 0.05% of global natural fiber production, and kid mohair (shorn from goats under one year of age) represents the softest, finest, and most lustrous grade available. To further enhance warmth, softness, and durability, the kid mohair is carefully blended with wool and nylon in a balanced 55% mohair / 30% nylon / 15% wool composition — resulting in a fabric that feels exceptionally light yet impressively warm.
The knit is constructed in a 10-gauge structure, balancing mohair's signature airiness and silky halo with a slightly tighter density to control excessive fuzz and improve longevity. The result is a cardigan that feels light on the body, soft to the touch, and naturally insulating — without the bulk often associated with winter knits.
