Old indigo goes green. Decades of oxidation give deadstock vintage denim a cast that fresh indigo never has — muted, slightly green, closer to plant-dyed cloth than to a modern dip. ONI's Greencast denim builds that color in from the start: the yarn is dyed in indigo as usual, then given a green dye at the very end of the process, so the fabric arrives looking like it has spent fifty years asleep in a warehouse, and ages in the same direction as the vintage pairs it recalls.

The weave is pure ONI. This 15oz fabric is defined by its roughness and pronounced weaving irregularity, the product of loosening the thread tension to the limit and running the shuttle slowly on old power looms that Oishi-san has repaired again and again, breaking many shuttles along the way. That controlled unevenness is what the brand does better than anyone, and it is what gives the surface its depth and its fades their character. Unsanforized and one-washed, the jeans are comfortable from the first wear while keeping the slightly rough, textured hand the fabric is known for.

The 246 is ONI's neat straight fit: a slim-fitting silhouette with a comfortable high rise, good room through the seat and a relaxed thigh that runs into a straight leg — the cleanest, most everyday line in the lineup, and a natural frame for a fabric with this much surface.

Construction follows the house standard: ONI's custom copper doughnut buttons, hidden rivets on the back pockets, raised belt loops and a vegetable-tanned deerskin patch, with the selvedge ID at the outseam. The one-wash finish means no further shrinkage is expected. Made in Japan.

Fit Notes: This model fits true to size for ONI, meaning the tagged size closely matches the actual waist measurement. Compared to most global American brands, sizing is similar or slightly smaller, so you may take the same size or one size up. The cut has a high rise, room through the seat and thigh, and a slim straight leg. The denim is unsanforized but has been one-washed, so no further shrinkage is expected. With regular wear, the waistband will stretch approximately 1 inch, allowing the fit to settle comfortably over time. We don't recommend sizing down, as starting too tight may cause discomfort and alter the intended fit of the garment.
