Originally introduced in 2012, ONI’s Secret Denim quickly became one of the most sought-after fabrics in the world of raw denim thanks to its unmatched slubbiness, hairy surface, and uncanny softness despite extreme weight. This dark indigo variation maintains all the visual chaos and organic irregularity of the original, while feeling slightly rougher and more rigid at first, allowing the fabric to break in with even more dramatic evolution.

This denim is produced exclusively by Oishi-san, the master craftsman behind ONI’s most extreme fabrics. Using three different types of cotton spun into extra-thick yarns, the fabric is woven at ultra-low tension on a vintage shuttle loom. The result is a 20oz unsanforized selvedge denim that is deeply uneven, heavily knotted, intensely slubby, and richly textured—yet surprisingly comfortable once broken in.

The dark indigo rope-dyed warp paired with the light beige weft creates an explosive fading potential, developing sharp contrast, electric blues, and dramatic vertical streaking with wear. This is denim designed to transform fast and intensely, telling its story through bold visual change.

Construction is finished with ONI’s signature heavy-duty details, including copper buttons, reinforced bar tacks, high-quality pocket bags, and a custom vegetable-tanned cowhide leather patch, all built to withstand years of hard wear.

The jeans are cut in ONI’s iconic relaxed tapered fit, offering a modern slim silhouette with a bit of extra room in the top block for comfort, tapering cleanly down to a narrow leg opening. This cut delivers a sharp, contemporary look while maintaining excellent everyday comfort.

Fit Notes: These jeans have a standard sizing. We recommend choosing your usual size. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. The fabric is unsanforized, but the jeans have been one-washed. Due to low tension, "Secret Denim" fabric will stretch quite a bit (Between 1-2 inches), so if your jeans are a tight fit at the start, don't worry because after just a few uses you will have gained the perfect fit.
