The Pherrow’s 25W-PVSF Raglan Sweatshirt is a refined take on classic vintage athletic wear, built around the iconic Freedom Sleeve design—a construction originally developed to enhance mobility and comfort.
This model has been a long-standing favorite in Pherrow’s lineup, faithfully reproducing the details and character of mid-century raglan sweatshirts. It is crafted using original heavyweight jersey fabric, slowly knitted on rare vintage tsuri-ami (loopwheel) machines in Japan. These machines operate without unnecessary tension, relying only on the natural weight of the fabric, resulting in a material that is soft, resilient, and exceptionally comfortable.
The fabric has a plump, three-dimensional texture with a slightly vintage tone, giving it an authentic worn-in character from the very beginning. At the same time, it remains durable enough to withstand years of wear and washing, gradually improving with use.
True to vintage construction, the sweatshirt features a V-shaped neck gusset, originally designed to absorb sweat and maintain structure, along with carefully engineered underarm panels and V-shaped cuff ribbing. These elements allow for a wide range of motion from shoulder to arm, which is the defining characteristic of the Freedom Sleeve design.
The silhouette is slightly more fitted and clean, offering a modern interpretation while maintaining its heritage feel. Easy to wear on its own or layered, it pairs effortlessly with denim or chinos for a timeless casual look.
Fit Notes: This sweatshirt runs slightly small, so we recommend sizing up one from your usual size. Compared to most global American brands, a size 42 fits similarly to a Medium-Large.
