The Pure Blue Japan Waterfall Denim Jacket Type II takes the classic Type II silhouette and rebuilds it around an exceptional in-house fabric. The denim is a 14.5oz Japanese selvedge slub woven on low-tension shuttle looms, with two contrasting indigo yarns — one dark, one light — combined randomly through the warp to create a vertical, water-like gradient that flows across the surface of the cloth. This effect is what gives the fabric its name: "Waterfall."

The light version uses a higher proportion of lighter indigo yarns, producing a softer, brighter overall tone while preserving the depth and texture of the underlying weave. The use of strongly slubbed yarns mirrors the turbulent movement of falling water, creating a heavily textured surface with distinct irregularities that give each jacket a unique character from the very first wear. The result is a fabric with the visual depth of a heavyweight and the comfort of a mid-weight weave.

The silhouette is a streamlined update to the traditional Type II proportions — clean, balanced, and contemporary. Construction adds two welted hand-warmer pockets at the waist alongside the standard two-button chest pockets, expanding the jacket's everyday utility without compromising the heritage profile.

Fit Notes: This jacket runs small. Compared to most global American brands, we recommend sizing up one from your usual size for a comfortable fit. As a reference, a size 4 (L) fits similarly to a standard American Medium. The fabric is unsanforized but the jacket has been one-washed, so no shrinkage is expected.
