SJ-04 Indigo Bandana
The classic cookie bandana rebuilt with Japanese motifs — rope-dyed indigo, selvedge edges and a Kyoto-style discharge print. 53 × 53 cm, made in Japan.
The paisley "cookie" bandana is the starting point — the square that rode west in the back pockets of cowboys and railroad men — and Samurai Jeans keeps its bones while rebuilding the pattern with traditional Japanese motifs, so the familiar layout reads as something new on second look.
The cloth is woven from fine-count cotton yarn rope-dyed in indigo, the same dyeing method behind the brand's denim, and finished with selvedge edges. The pattern is made by discharge printing — bassen — a technique long rooted in Kyoto's dyeing culture that removes indigo to draw the design rather than laying pigment on top of it. It is slow, labor-intensive work, and it is the reason the bandana keeps the full depth of its indigo while the motifs stay sharp and clear. Because the indigo sits on rope-dyed yarn, the bandana will soften and fade with use the way a good pair of jeans does.
It measures 53 × 53 cm (approx. 21 × 21 in) — large enough for the neck, a back pocket, a bag strap or a frame — and comes one-washed to minimize shrinkage and feel comfortable from the first wear. 100% cotton. Entirely made in Japan.
