Samurai's Baker Pants reinterpret the iconic U.S. Army Baker fatigues through the brand's unmistakable lens of heavyweight construction, textured fabrics, and obsessive Japanese craftsmanship. This iteration takes Samurai's long-celebrated baker silhouette and applies it to one of the brand's most intricate original fabrics: the "Kanoko Aimadara".

For this fabric, Samurai selected Suren dye — a colorfast dye also used in vintage military garments. Unlike indigo, Suren dye does not dramatically shift color with weathering or environmental exposure. Instead, it fades naturally into softer tones within the same color family. While the aging process is more subtle than traditional indigo denim, wear and abrasion will gradually create distinctive fades and character marks unique to each pair.

The yarn is made from 100% Texas cotton slub yarn, woven with natural nep texture into a rugged 15oz denim with real body and presence.

The name "Kanoko" — meaning "fawn pattern" — refers to the young deer, an animal born in summer and celebrated in Japanese poetry as a seasonal symbol. Both charming and dignified, deer have been revered in Japan for centuries as sacred messengers of the gods. This theme is reflected throughout the design: from the beautifully embossed leather patch to the exclusive flasher and the intricately woven "Shogyo Mujo" (Impermanence of All Things) jacquard pocket fabric — a Buddhist concept quietly integrated into the garment.

The silhouette is cut with a mid-high rise and a relaxed straight profile, staying true to the original military specification while offering modern comfort and versatility. Room through the top block allows easy movement, while the straight leg keeps the profile clean and balanced — equally at home paired with boots, sneakers, or heritage footwear.

True to Samurai's standards, construction is packed with thoughtful details: custom black pinewood buttons, large patch front pockets, flap back pockets, and bartack reinforcements at stress points — a finishing quality appreciated by those who value craftsmanship down to the smallest element.
