The Samurai Jeans SOS26-KSK is a short-sleeve open-collar shirt built around one of the brand's most intricate fabrics: an original "Kanoko Aimadara" indigo sashiko cloth, woven and dyed entirely in-house. The result is a shirt that reads equally at home as a modern take on the classic aloha silhouette or as a workwear-inspired summer piece — quietly distinctive from the very first wear.
"Kanoko" translates to "fawn" in Japanese, historically referring to a spotted fabric inspired by the dappled pattern on a young deer's coat. Due to the spiritual association with deer in Japanese culture, kanoko fabrics have traditionally been reserved for formal occasions and ceremonial garments — a heritage Samurai reinterprets here through the lens of contemporary workwear.
Inspired by this history, Samurai has developed a highly considered cloth combining a beautiful brown base layer with natural indigo blended sashiko stitching. The stitching — thicker, denser, and more prone to fading over time through natural friction — is what makes this fabric come alive with wear. As the indigo threads gradually fade against the retained brown base, the kanoko dappled spotted pattern gradually emerges across the fabric surface, revealing a garment that is completely unique to its wearer. The thick overlapping sashiko threads also make the cloth exceptionally durable, built for years of daily wear.
Cut into a relaxed silhouette with generous room through the body and sleeves, the shirt is finished with clean, simple detailing — an open camp collar, a single chest pocket, and urea buttons at the front placket.
