The Studio D'Artisan 8204 Ishikawadai Knit Jersey T-Shirt is a refined everyday tee built around rare Japanese spinning and knitting machinery. Simple in shape but rich in fabric character, it has the soft, natural texture and understated feel that comes from slower, more considered production.

The yarn is spun on an Ishikawadai ring-spinning machine — a Japanese-made machine manufactured in 1953 by Ishikawa Seisakusho, believed to be the oldest of its kind still in operation today. Running at approximately one-third the speed of modern ring-spinning machines, it places minimal stress on the cotton fibers — preserving their natural softness and producing an uneven, almost hand-spun character across the finished fabric.

The fabric is then knit in Wakayama on old-fashioned small-gauge knitting machines, producing a tubular round-body construction with no side seams. The result is a T-shirt made slowly, carefully, with the kind of lasting vintage appeal that comes only from traditional production methods.

The silhouette is a slim fit, refined and true to the proportions of mid-century originals. The fabric has been one-washed.
