The Flat Head FN-LJ-DJ004 takes the compact proportions of a military bomber and rebuilds them in Japanese deerskin suede — a leather chosen for comfort as much as for looks, with a matte, deep black surface and a hand that is unusually soft for a leather jacket. Short in the body, structured through the shoulders and finished with the brand's own knit ribbing and a leopard-print lining, it is a military reference reworked for everyday wear.

The leather:

The deer come from Japan's cold mountain regions, where wild Japanese deer grow thick, tight hides. The Flat Head has them tanned by skilled craftsmen into a supple, high-quality leather that keeps its body, finished to 1.0mm and chrome-tanned. The hide is turned suede side out, which gives the black its textured, velvety appearance, while the smooth grain side is kept on the inside, so the jacket slides easily over a shirt or knit and feels good against the skin. Thickness is adjusted with the grain intact, giving the leather just enough firmness to hold its shape while staying comfortable and durable — and, like all deerskin, it breaks in quickly and softens further with wear.

Construction:

The short bomber silhouette sits at the waist with broad shoulders, a slim chest and a tapered waist, a structured line that pairs naturally with high-rise trousers. Cuffs and hem are finished with The Flat Head's original knitted ribbing: the knit pattern changes through the center of each rib, creating a raised, three-dimensional band against the otherwise clean design.

Inside, a leopard-print rayon lining turns the military inspiration into something unmistakably Flat Head. Beyond the look, the smooth rayon makes the sleeves easy to get into and layers without friction. Two handwarmer side pockets and two large interior pockets — sized to take a large smartphone — cover everyday carry.

The front closes with a brass-tone Riri zipper, chosen for its smooth action, durability and vintage appearance, which sets off the texture of the suede. Made in Japan.

Fit Notes: This model features broad shoulders, a slim chest, and a tapered waist, creating a strong, structured silhouette that becomes more natural as the leather breaks in. We recommend taking your usual Japanese leather jacket size. If you are not familiar with Japanese sizing, as a reference, a size 42 fits similarly to a Western Large. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting jacket to ensure the ideal fit.
