Yonetomi Rigid Cashmere Crew Neck Pullover Raw
The Yonetomi Rigid Cashmere Crew Neck Pullover is crafted from 100% baby cashmere and offered raw and unwashed for true aging and evolution. Dense, structured, and durable at first wear, it softens beautifully over time like raw denim. A rare, long-term cashmere essential made in Japan.

The Yonetomi Rigid Cashmere Crew Neck Pullover redefines what a cashmere sweater can be. Crafted from 100% baby cashmere of the highest quality, this piece is intentionally offered raw and unwashed, allowing the wearer to experience the material in its most honest, untouched state—and to enjoy its evolution over time.
Rather than pursuing immediate softness, Yonetomi set out to create a cashmere sweater that could be worn daily, age beautifully, and mold to the body much like a favorite pair of raw denim. To achieve this, the brand developed a custom, tightly twisted cashmere yarn, something rarely used in conventional cashmere knitwear. The yarn is twisted to the very limit before fiber breakage, resulting in an unusually firm, durable, and structured handfeel that challenges expectations of what cashmere should feel like.
The sweater is densely and meticulously knitted over time, creating a rigid texture at first wear. As it is worn and gently washed, the fabric gradually softens, revealing the unmistakable warmth and luxury of baby cashmere while retaining its structure and resilience. This deliberate transformation is central to the design philosophy—cashmere that develops character through use, not perfection out of the box.
To preserve this evolution, the garment undergoes no washing or dyeing processes before finishing. The natural oils from spinning remain present, lending a subtle workwear-like scent and reinforcing the raw, utilitarian concept behind the piece. Some shrinkage may occur with the first wash, a natural part of the fabric’s settling process.
The silhouette draws inspiration from vintage sweatshirts, using the stiffness of the fabric to create a clean, structured shape that feels substantial yet refined. Despite its density, the pullover is hand washable at home, making it practical for regular wear.
Designed and produced entirely in Yonetomi’s factory in Yamanobe, Yamagata Prefecture, this sweater represents a rare intersection of luxury material, technical innovation, and long-term wear philosophy—cashmere built to be lived in, not babied.
Fit Notes: This cashmere pullover runs slightly smaller than standard American sizing and will shrink slightly after the first wash, as it is offered raw with no pre-washing or processing treatments. We recommend sizing up one full size from your usual American size. For example, if you normally wear a size M in American brands, selecting a size 3 (L) will provide the best fit. As always, we recommend consulting the size chart to ensure the perfect fit.
