The fabric is knit at the Kanekichi Wakayama workshop, one of only two workshops in the world still operating tubular textile production machines that have been in continuous use for more than 100 years. These machines allow for the production of seamless garments with a level of refinement modern equipment simply cannot replicate.
The only tension applied during the knitting process is gravity itself — resulting in a knit fabric with virtually no built-in stress or tension. A loopwheel machine rotates at just 24 revolutions per minute, whereas a modern knitting machine operates at over ten times that speed. The result is a fabric that is very soft yet remarkably strong, widely considered the finest T-shirt material made today.
Each Strike Gold loopwheel tee features a triple-stitch reinforced collar — a superior-quality detail found only on high-end Japanese brands. This construction prevents collar stretching, ensuring the T-shirt remains structured and true across years of wear. Sizes L and XL utilize the full circumference of the 1920s loopwheel for truly seamless garments, while sizes XXL and XXXL require side seams due to the smaller diameter of the original machines.
The result is a soft, plush texture that feels gentle on the skin from the first wear — a genuine masterpiece of Japanese jersey craftsmanship, built to age gracefully over time.
